Dexter...

No not Dexter of blood spatter analyst fame;but, Dexter the Beagle/Basset mix who started it all, my great love of Dogs!
Dexter lived from 1965-1977 a pretty good life actually, and his remains after the great freeze out winter of January 1977 were never found...he just went away one night as beagles are wont to do. But he never came back. If there is such a thing as the transfiguration of dead diehm dogs, like Moses and Elijah with Jesus on the Mount, then I have an image of Dexter, and Augie (euthanized for bad behavior, even though she was a marvelous animal, and Mamie, dear Mamie, a Weimaraner's weimaraner who gave her last wag on 6-6-6 in the north hills animal hospital after more bumps and lumps than any dog should have to bear in a life time...Before I march to the great beyond, how cool would it be to have a tete a tete with Jesus and my dogs? Different huh?

Devan Downey

I love college basketball; there is still a sense of awe at some levels of collegiate play. Take for example, last night when a team like South Carolina mired in a three game losing streak, missing two starters, battle the current goliath of hoops,#1 Kentucky and all of their young lottery picks in the future NBA draft. Along comes "David," a five foot nine inch point guard named Devan Downey, who in his own right is an all conference guard. In an amazing effort of indvidual talent and team determination, the gamecocks take the wildcats to the floor and prevail,68-62 Largely due to the gritty, gutty, 30 point performance of the little general, Downey....I have a new favorite college player, Devan Downey!
